The Athletics Integrity Unit (AIU) has banned Philemon Kacheran Lokedi for three years for the Presence/Use of a Prohibited Substance (exogenous Testosterone) (Article 2.1 and Article 2.2) which is a violation of the World Athletics Anti-Doping Rules.
Kacheran was to be among the Kenyan Marathon team for the Commonwealth Games but was replaced by Michael Githae who gave Kenya the bronze medal at the summer event.
The 30 year-old who finished third in the Valencia marathon with a time of 2:05.19 last December had been selected together with Eric Kiptanui and Jonathan Korir.
Lokedi was busted with an out-of-competition test that was carried out in Kapenguria on April 27 and the ban comes into force retroactively on July 8, 2022.
