Olympic marathon champion, Peris Jepchirchir made a come-back from injury with a win at the 42nd edition of the AJ Great North Run held on Sunday (10) from Newcastle to South Shields in England.
Jepchirchir who holds the women’s only half marathon world record of 1:05.16 that she set in 2020, led a 1-2 Kenyan podium finish when she cut the tape in a time of 1:06.45 with her the reigning New York Marathon champion, Sharon Lokedi coming home in second in 1:07.43 with Great Britain’s Charlotte Purdue wrapping up the podium three finishes in a time of 1:09.36.
