Kenya’s Pamela Kosgei took the top honors in style at the Cardiff Cross Challenge, the first world Athletics Cross Country opener held on Saturday (15) in Cardiff, Wales
The 18 year-old who is the younger sister to world marathon record-holder Brigid Kosgei, won the Kenyan U18 cross country title earlier this year and more recently finished fifth in the 3000m steeplechase at the World Athletics U20 Championships in Cali.
The younger Kosgei took charge of the race with a kilometer to go as she passed past the 2020 British Athletics Championships bronze medallist, Amelia Quirk and glide further away from her, never looking back as she surged ahead and winning the race in a time of 20:21 with quirk coming home in second.
Jessica Gibbon finished in third place.
