Kenya’s Christine Oigo won in style the 3rd edition of the ONICO Gdynia Half Marathon that was held on Sunday (18) in Gdynia, Poland.
Oigo who was second in both 2016 and 2017 races has won four half marathons and had improved her personal best twice, to 1:11.50 in Warsaw, where she finished third, and then 1:11.32 in taking victory in Podgorica.
The 32 year-old made history as she led from the gun to tape as she cut the tape in 1:13.54 and was followed by Ruth Matebo who is also from Kenya in 1:13.58 with Ethiopia’s Meseret Merine who came to the race with a personal best of 1:12.52 from Pune in 2015 closing the podium three positions in 1:16.31.
