The 2018 World Masters 800m bronze medallist Nelly Jeptanui took the top honors at the at the Africa Masters Athletics trials that were held on Friday (5) at the Nyayo National Stadium, Nairobi.
Jeptanui who is the Kenya Defence force soldier waited patiently for the bell to ring and she took off never to look back crossing the line in 4:48.8
“My strategy worked very well and I am so happy for the win which will take me to represent my country at the African Masters Championships. My target this time round is to bring gold to Kenya,” said Jeptanui.
The 40 year-old who hails from Kapsabet is trained by Coach Christopher Tanai. She was followed closely by Agnes Chebii in a time of 7:55.4.
