Two time world 5000m champion, Muktar Idris took the top honors in style at the 38th edition of the International Night of San Antón 10km Race that was held on Saturday (26) night in Spain.
The 28 year-old ran solo for the better part of the race and he had an epic finish when he took the burning touch from one of the race officials with 100m remaining and going ahead to cut the tape in a time of 28:3.
Spain’s Sergio Paniagua came home in second in 29:44 with his compatriot Santiago Catrofe closing the podium three finishes in a time of 29:52.
The 2010 Ibero-American 5000m Champion, Ayad Lamdassen and Mohamed Katir who broke three Spanish outdoor records in just 34 days in Diamond League meetings came home in fourth and fifth place both timed 29:52.
