The reigning Lagos City Marathon champion, Meseret Dinke lived to the race expectations as she demolished a strong elite field at the 17th edition of the Generali Genève Marathon held on Sunday (15) in Geneva, Switzerland.
The 25 year-old who came with the fastest time on paper of 2:25.12 that she got last year at the Valencia marathon where she finished in ninth place, took on the 2019 Rochelle Marathon champion, Marion Kibor and the 2021 Eldama Ravine Half marathon champion, Sharon Chelimo.
The 2012 Vienna City silver medallist was too good on the Kenyans as she left them with seven kilometres to go, increasing her pace to cut the tape in her third fastest time of 2:26.22.
Kibor came home in second place with over two minutes as she crossed the line in a personal best of 2:28.30 with Chelimo finishing in third place in 2:33.02.
The race course record of 2:24.19 that was set last year by Maureen Chepkemoi from Kenya remained undisturbed
