The 2018 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist, Mercyline Chelangat took the top honors at the 14th edition of the PKO Poznań Half Marathon that was held on Sunday (3) in Poznań, Poland.
The 24 year-old battled the 2021 Sanlam Cape Town Marathon champion, Lydia Simiyu and Ethiopia’s Addisalem Tegegn.
Chelangat who came to this race with a personal best of 1:08.27 that she got last year at Barcelona Half marathon where she finished in fourth place was too good as the two could not dare match her pace as she cut the tape in a time of 1:09.24.
The 25 year-old, Simiyu was forced to settle in second as she crossed the line fifty six seconds later.
Tegegn closed the first three podium finishes in 1:10.21.
Kenya’s Lilian Lelei and Izabela Paszkiewicz from Poland finished in fourth and fifth place in a time of 1:11.05 and 1:11.18 respectively.
