Maximila Imali was on another world when she set a new National women’s 100m Record at the Athletics Kenya National Championships that was held on Wednesday (26) at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
The 26 year-old who is also a 2019 All-African Games bronze medallist in the women’s 4 × 100m relay erased the previous record of 11.47 that was set in 2015 by Eunice Kadogo at the 2015 All-Africa Games. The former 400m National Champion braced the cold weather as powered on to set a new National Record of 11.35 seconds.
Imali who represented The National Police Service, was followed by Jacinta Nyamahunge from Uganda who came second clocking 11.57 with Monica Zafania closing the podium three finishes in a time of 11.86.
The former National Record holder Kadogo and Esther Mbagari came home in fourth and fifth place in a time of 11:89 and 12.23 respectively.
