World Under 18 400m silver medalist Mary Moraa has now been officially admitted into the National Police Service (NPS) after graduating as an administration Police officer.
The ceremony which is in its 57th edition was presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta at their Embakasi A Campus in Embakasi, Nairobi County.
The President reminded the 2,610 (2,215 men and 395 women) new Police Officers to “serve faithfully and with utmost integrity” in line with their unit’s motto of ‘Uaminifu na Haki’.
At the same time, President Kenyatta cautioned the new officers against engaging in corruption and other workplace vices, and assured them that the Government’s would shield them from unjust condemnation. “The Government is committed to continue to uphold the dignity of police officers. So long as you do what is right and in accordance with the law, devoid of corruption and other ills, rest assured that you will be protected from any form of undue harassment or vilification,” he said.
Moraa turned to 800m from her well established 400m, she has not gained enough experience but slowly, she will be on course for better results.
Moraa showed her prowess when she beat the 2019 World Athletics Champion Halima Nakaayi from Uganda at the second edition of the Kip Keino Classic that was held at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani in September.
