Ethiopian Nibret Melak defended his title at the 90th edition of the Cinque Mulini a World Athletics Cross Country Tour Gold meeting that was held on Sunday (30) in San Vittore, Italy.
Melak slipped during the last lap but he managed to pull up and regained his composure to set up a sensational final sprint for the tape, cutting it in a time of 28:33. He was followed by World U20 3000m bronze medallist Levy Kibet from Kenya who pulled a time of 28:35 with World U20 3000m champion Tadese Worku closing the first three podium finishes in 28:36.
Bikila Tadese Takele from Ethiopia and Habtom Samuel from Eritrea finished in fourth and fifth place in a time of 28:36 and 28:43 respectively.
