Five times World Cross Country champion, Letesenbet Gidey and two times world cross country champion Geoffrey Kamworor have withdrawn from the Agnes Jebet Memorial cross country championships which is the fifth edition of World Athletics Cross Country Gold Tour that will be held on Saturday (12) at Lobo village in Kapseret, Uasin Gishu County.
The 23-year-old won four gold medals at the junior level and one at senior. Gidey had a memorable 2021 after running world records in both the women’s half-marathon and 10,000m plus claimed Olympic 10,000m bronze in Tokyo. The Ethiopian is also a world 10,000m silver medallist.
Kamworor carries on his shoulders two senior world cross country titles that he won in 2015 and 2017 after the 2011 World Under 20 title.
