The organisers of the 6th edition of the Lagos Marathon which is a silver label marathon have announced that this year the race will host 30,000 runners from around the globe.
This year’s race will be held on February 12th 2020 in Lagos, Nigeria
The Access Bank Lagos Marathon is the biggest one-day sports event in Africa and one of the top 10 marathons in the world in terms of prize money and participants.
The winners in each category will pocket a cool 50,000 USD (kshs 5671500/-).
Kenyans have dominated this race since its inception in 2016 with last year’s winner Emmanuel Naibei cutting the tape in 2:15.02. The men course record of 2:10.23 is held by David Barmasai while the women’s record of 2:32.14 which was set last year is held by Meseret Dinke from Ethiopia.
