The 2016 World U20 Champion, Kumari Taki started off his season with a bang in the men’s 1500m race at the Fanny Blankers-Koen Games held on Monday (06) in Hengelo, Netherland.
The 23 year-old who came to this race with a life time best of 3:34.14 battled for honors with the 2019 Summer Universiade 1500m champion, Michal Rozmys who was the fastest athlete on paper with a time of 3:32.67 that he got in the finals at the Tokyo Olympics where he finished in position eight.
Taki was too swift as he took charge of the race in the final stretch to cross the line in season best of 3:34.77 with the Polish coming home in second in 3:35.40.
The European Indoor bronze medallist, Filip Sasinek from Czech Republic finished third in 3:36.40.
Ireland’s National champion, Andrew Coscoran and the British National Champion, George Mills finished in fourth and fifth place in 3:36.54 and 3:36.92 respectively.
