Kenya’s Jarinter Mawia Mwasya became the new queen in the women 800m race at the just concluded 22nd edition of the Africa Senior Championships in Reduit, Mauritius.
The 25 year-old who came to this final with a life time best of 1:59.84 that she got at the Meeting “international” du SATUC where she took the honors beat Ethiopia’s Netsanet Gedre Desta and rising star from South Africa who is also the Kip keino Classic champion, Prudence Sekgodiso.
Mwasya won the race in 2:02.80with Desta coming second in 2:2.99 and Sekgodisco closing the podium three finishes in 2:03.67.
Kenya’s Brenda Chebet finished in sixth place with Naomi Korir pulling the tail in 2:06.17 and 2:06.39 respectively.
