Kenya’s Japheth Kosgei won the 15th edition of the Marathon Des Alpes-Maritimes held on Sunday (05) in Cannes, France.
The 35 year-old who just raced last month at the Bregenz Marathon where he finished in second place, improved on his position as he took the top honors in the French capital, when he cut the tape first in a time 2:14.37.
Kosgei who led a 1-2 Kenyan podium finish was followed a distant later by Patrick Kosgei in 2:17.51 with Czech Republic’s Matej Zima closing the podium three finishes in 2:31.22.
France’s Elvis Lefebvre and Oscar Simonsen from Denmark finished in fourth and fifth place in respective time of 2:34.24 and 2:35.23.
The race course record of 2:07.25 that was set five years ago by Ethiopia’s Abrha Milaw remains unshaken.
