Olympic 1500m champion Jakob Ingebrigtsen gave an impressive performance when he set the Meeting Record at the Lausanne Diamond League Meeting on Friday (30) evening in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The Norwegian who brought down long standing record of Daniel Komen when he clocked 7:54.10 rained terror on the world 3000m steeplechase record holder Lamecha Girma in their first ever clash in any discipline when he brought the curtains down in a season best time of 3:28.72.
Girma who also destroyed Saif Saeed Shaheen’s world record in the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 7:52.11, was forced to settle in second place in a new Ethiopian National Record of 3:29.51 with Olympic 1500m bronze medallist Josh Kerr from Great Britain wrapping up the podium three finishes in a season best of 3:29.64.
British 800m Indoor record holder Elliot Giles and New Zealand Indoor record holder for the 1500m, Samuel Tanner finishing in fourth and fifth in respective time of 3:31.56 and 3:32.27 respectively.
