Commonwealth Games 3,000m steeplechase champion Jackline Chepkoech, world U20 3,0000m champion Betty Chelangat, world U20 3,000m steeplechase champion Faith Cherotich, have been nomined for the 2022 SOYA awards for the Most Promising Girl.
Chepkoech, who at 18 years was the youngest athlete to win women’s 3,000m steeplechase at the Commonwealth Games after beating Briton Elizabeth Bird and Uganda’s Olympic champion Peruth Chemutai.
Chelang’at is a rising star after winning gold at the World Under-20 Championships in Cali Colombia in women’s 3000m.
Cherotich was named after winning gold at the world under 20 championships in Cali Colombia in 3,000m steeplechase before adding her name at the Brussels Diamond League Meet in 9:09.63 before setting a new personal best time of 9:06.14 in Zurich.
The three runners will battle for the award alongside Medina Okot who plays Basketball, boxer Jane Wangare who was the deputy captain for Team Kenya to the World Youth Boxing Championships in Alicante, Spain and Rachael Achieng who is a weightlifter.
