Jackline Chepkoech bangs Kenya the third Gold in 3000m steeplechase

Jackline Chepkoech produced an outstanding performance to win the World U20 3000m steeplechase at the ongoing championships games being held at Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani, Nairobi.

Chepkoech wrapped the third day with the third gold when she crossed the line in a new personal best of 9:27.40 as Faith Cherotich settled for bronze as they send the record to the world that Kenya is still a powerhouse in the water and barriers.

The 18 year-old intends to compete at the Commonwealth Games said that it was one of the best races and it worked the way she had planned.

“Today’s race was well organized and winning was good as I plan to join senior team next year for Commonwealth Games,” Chepkoech said.

Cherotich settled for silver in 9:44.76 with Ethiopian Zerfe Wondermagegn banging silver with a time of 9:35.22.

The Sugutet Secondary School student said that she will have another opportunity to compete for juniors at the 2022 Cali Colombia.

“Am still at 16 and God willing I be in the team that will represent Kenya at the World U20 next year. This bronze will be of great help to propel my career,” Cherotich said.
