Africa Games 100m silver medallist, Eunice Kadogo and the Kenya National 100m champion, Maximilla Imali made it to the semi-finals at the ongoing 22nd edition of the Africa Senior Athletics Championships at the newly refurbished Cote d’Or National Sports Complex in Reduit, Mauritius.
Zambia’ Quincy Malekani took the honors in 11.52 seconds in the second heat with Kadogo taking the second spot in 12.00 seconds. Namibia’s Sade Amor De Sousa came third in 11.52 to also make it to next round.
The the 2016 African Championships bronze medallist, Gina Bass from Gambia took the honors in heat one in 11.36 seconds and was followed by Imali who clocked 11.50 seconds with the 2011 African Junior bronze medallist, Loungo Matlhaku from Zambia coming home in third in 11.59 seconds.
South Africa’s Phindile Khubheka also made it to the semi-final as the fastest loser.
Team Kenya assistant captain Monica Safania did not make it to next stage as she finished in sixth place in the fourth heat in 12.23 seconds.
