World outdoor champion, Halimah Nakaayi from Uganda will run her second race this week at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais that will be held on Thursday (17) in Lievin, France.
The 27 year-old who is also the current World 800m champion slashed almost two seconds from her indoor personal best as she battled Olympian marathoner Tigist Girma from Ethiopian and her fellow country-mate Winnie Nanyondo, the 2014 Commonwealth Games bronze medallist.
Nakaayi set the World leading time of 1.59.55 in Val de Reuil and she will battle with Jamaica’s Natoya Goule, the former Commonwealth Games bronze medallist who won the 800m in 1:59.62 in Staten Island with the then fastest time in the world.
Goule went through the 400m mark with a stunning time of 58.16 and held her lead until she cut the tape in world-leading time.
Freweyni Hailu from Ethiopian, who finished fourth in the 1500m in 3:57.60 at the Tokyo Olympics game in Japan last year, will also be on the start line up as battles for the honors too.
