Three world record holder Faith Kipyegon and World 800m champion Mary Moraa were rewarded heavily by the Kenyan Government after their recent heroics at the just concluded World Athletics Championships in Budapest, Hungary.
The four time World champion was rewarded with Kshs 4 Million for her superb performance in 1500m and 5000m and going to history books as the only female athlete to win both events at the same world championships. While the National 400m record holder got Kshs 2 million for scooping for the country the third world championship gold over the 800m distance.
The government rewarded the Kenyan athletes with whooping Kshs 43,000,000 for bringing home the 10 medals (3 Gold, 3 silver and 4 bronze)
Commonwealth Games silver medallist, Daniel Ebenyo Simiu bagged the 10,000m silver while Beatrice Chepkoech, clinched the 3000m Steeplechase silver medal with Emmanuel Wanyonyi taking silver in 800m. Jacob Krop took a bronze medal in the men’s 5000m.
Beatrice Chebet bagged a bronze medal in the 5000m while fast rising star, Faith Cherotich won a bronze medal in the women’s 3000m Steeplechase as Abraham Kibiwott bagged the bronze in the men’s specialty.
