Kenya’s Gladys Jeruto Kiptoo who was making her marathon debut was beaten to second at 27th edition of the Rome Marathon that was held on Sunday (27) in Rome, Italy.
Ethiopia’s Sechale Dalasa Adugna won the race in style as she took charge of the race at the 15km mark in a race that was dominated by her compatriots as she pulled away from the lead group and never looked back forging on to cut the tape in a new personal best of 2:26.08.
Adugna was followed a distant later by Kiptoo who proved to be a force to reckon in future races when crossed the line with a new lifetime best of 2:28.44.
Ethiopia’s Tadelech Bekele Nedi closed the podium three finishes in a time of 2:31.00.
Yeshimebet Tades Bifa and Tahiri Rahma both from Ethiopia finished in fourth and fifth place in a time of 2:32.15 and 2:32.36 respectively.
