Kenya’s Geoffrey Koech won the men’s title at the 19th edition of the Cardiff Half Marathon held on Sunday (02) in Cardiff, Wales.
The 27 year-old who came to this race with a personal best of 59:36 that he got at the 2020 Aramco Houston Half Marathon where he finished in sixth place, beat a strong field as he crossed the finish line in a time of 1:00.01 with Ethiopia’s Gizealaw Ayana coming in second place fifteen seconds later as his compatriot Chimdesa Gudeta closed the podium three finishes in 1:00.17.
Uganda’s Mathew Chekwurui and Geoffrey Yegon from Kenya finished in fourth and fifth place in a time of 1:00.35 and 1:01.17 respectively.
The race course record of 59:30 that was set by Leonard Lagat from Kenya in 2019 remains standing.
