Kenya’s Freddy Sittuk took top honors at the 37th edition Waterside Half Marathon that was held on Sunday (2) in Belfast, Northern Ireland.
The 37 year-old who has won this race three times in a row, battled Andrew Annett and Foyle Valley’s Scott Rankin were in a league of their own from the gun with all three vying at various stages for the top podium finish.
Annett was in fact in the lead just ahead of Sittuk with a mile to go with Rankin a few yards adrift. However, try as he could the North man could not break clear of Sittuk who launched his usual sprint in the closing stages to cut the tape in 1:10.06 with Annet coming in second with the same time.
Rankin was third for the second successive year.
