Ethiopia’s Fikadu Teferi took the top honors at the 42nd edition of the Stockholm Marathon that was held on Saturday (10) in Stockholm, Sweden.
The quartets Tefer, the Kenyans James Kiplagat and Ronald Korir as well as the Swedish-Eritrean Samuel Tsegay broke up and were assembled a little more than five minutes before the finish line. Shortly afterwards, Tsegay accelerated to leave Kiplagat with no more gas to cut the tape 2:12.24.
“I tried to win the race and tried the last five kilometers. But am happy I won the race at last,” said Tsegay
Kiplagat was forced to settle in second place when he crossed the line two seconds later. Korir closed the first three podium finishes in 2:12.30
