Four days after winning 100m at the International Castiglione Athletics, the World Athletics Continental Challenge tour in Italy, Africa 100m record holder Ferdinand Omurwa Omanyala will be the key highlight at the 24 Internationales Leichtathletik Meeting, the World Athletics Continental bronze Tour in Germany.
Dubbed the Anhalt event, Omanyala, who doubled at last Sunday in Italy, will be lining up in the 100m with the best time of 9.77.
The national 100m record holder said he will be using the event as part of his training for the senior Africa Athletics championships that will be held in Mauritius next month.
Speaking exclusively to athletics News from his base in German, Omanyala said, “Well, using these races as training to keep me active as I prepare for the African championship in less than 3 weeks to come,”.
He added that he will be using the race as fun time in the Germany city.
“This will be part of fun in this City. This is fun as I move around the world,” he added.
The Kenyan, who enjoys the fastest time according to the start list at 9.99, will be up against the 2019 African U20 champion, Enoch Adegoke from Nigeria who comes to this race with a lifetime best of 9.98, Italy based Sri Lankan National and South Asia Record holder in 200m, Yupun Abeykoon of 10.09 and PSD Bank 60m Indoor champion Julian Wagner from German who comes with a personal best of 10.11.
Other title contenders include Slovenia’s Jan Volko who holds a personal best of 10.13, Denmark’s Kojo Musah of 10.14, Joris Van Gool from the Netherlands with 10.17 and Briton Jeriel Quainoo of 10.26.
