Kenya Indoor Record holder, Ferdinand Omanyala will battle Olympic 100m champion, Marcell Jacobs at the at the Meeting Hauts-de-France Pas-de-Calais that will be held on Thursday (17) in Lievin, France.
The 26 years-old clocked 6.60 seconds to win the men’s 60m dash at the Metz Monselle meeting in France last week.
It was the second time Omanyala was breaking the record in a span of seven days.
The Africa’s fastest man broke the National Record for the first time at Meeting Elite de Miramas Indoor when won in the fastest time of 6.63 seconds breaking the 17-year-old national record of 6.70 second that had been set by Paulvince Obuon.
“I am taking each race as a lesson and trying to do my best at every event, So far so good. I have a lot that rectify as I prepare for the bigger events ahead of me, World Championships and Indoor games,” said Omanyala
Jacobs is the defending champion and he heads to Lievin after two victories this year one in Berlin where he pulled6.51 seconds and the other in Lodz where he won in a time of 6.49.
Another title contender is the United States World indoor bronze medallist, Ronnie Baker who comes to this race with the fastest time on paper of 6.40 which he got at in Birmingham in 2018.
