Africa’s fastest man in 100m race, Ferdinand Omanyala sailed to the finals on the second day of the Athletics Kenya National Championships that was held on Wednesday (26) at the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani.
Omanyala who was representing the National Police Service (NPS) took the honors easily in his heat after crossing the line in 10.14 which is slower than his finishing time on the first day of 10.02.
The 26 year-old was followed by Hesborn Ochieng from Kenya Prisons Service, who crossed the line in 10.62 with Robinson Motende closing the first three finishes in 10.76.
In the second heat, Denmark’s Tazama Kamanga who trains here in Kenya, clocked 10.66 and was followed by Mark Kangethe who was representing the Universities in 10.69 with Moses Wasike from Nairobi Region closing the first three places in 10.81.
Samuel Imeta from Kenya Defence Forces took the honors in the final heat with 10.53 while Uganda’s Benson Okoth came home in second place in 10.55 with Duke Ogoti from the National Police Service coming in third in 10.86.
