Kenya National Record holder in 100m, Ferdinand Omanyala has promised to give the best shot tomorrow as he faces the United States great Justin Gatlin at the 2nd edition of the Kip Keino Classic, a leg of the World Athletics Continental Gold Tour which will be held at the Moi Sports Centre Kasarani on 18 September 2021.
Omanyala was in high spirit as he met Gatlin during the final presser for the Continental tour that was held at the Ole Sereni Hotel in Nairobi.
The 25 years-old enjoys the fastest time that he set twice of 9.86 during the final race at the International Josko Lauf Meeting at Pramtal Stadium, Andorra, Austria.
“I want to give my best as I face the world’s best in 100m. Everyone is at his best and everyone is looking to run the best time and take the title,” Said Omanyala
Gatlin, a silver medalist from the 2019 World Championships in Doha, is the fifth fastest man. Trayvon Bromell will look to end his season on a high after the disappointment of missing out on the Olympic final, having only reached the semis despite arriving in Tokyo with the world’s fastest time on paper of 9.77secs.
Omanyala will also face Olympic silver medalist Fred Kerley also from the USA.
