Ethiopia’s Enatnesh Alamrew Tirusew defeated Nancy Chepleting from Kenya at the 16th edition of the Porto Half Marathon held on Sunday (17) in Porto, Portugal.
Tirusew who came to this race with the fastest time on paper of 1:10.17 that she got last year at the Semi-marathon international de Nice where she took the honors lived to the billing of the race when she claimed her second victory over the distance with a new personal best of 1:07.13.
Kenya’s Chepleting, the youngest athlete, who was running her third race came home a distant second with a new personal best of 1:09.44 with Asian Games 1500m silver medallist, Tigist Gashaw of Bahrain who was also making her debut over the distance, sealing the podium three finishes with a personal best of 1:10.05.
Kenyan born-Bahraini Roselidah Jepketer and European U23 10,000m bronze medallist Aurora Bado finished in fourth and fifth place in respective time of 1:10.22 and 1:13.15.
The race course record of 1:08.34 set last year by Ethiopia’s Senayet Getachew Chekol remains standing.
