Tokyo Olympic 800m champion, Emmanuel Korir will lead a stellar deep field ever assembled this year at the Rabat Diamond League that will be held on Sunday (5) in Rabat, Morocco.
The 26 year-old who is ranked the sixth fastest athlete over 800m of all time, with a personal best of 1:42.05 that he got at the 2018 Muller Anniversary Games where he took the honors will battle his compatriot the Olympic silver medallist, Ferguson Rotich who has not been in great shape in recent times as he has been beaten in the last four meetings he has taken part in.
Korir will have a test of his time as he will also face the World U20 800m champion Emmanuel Wanyonyi who has been in great shape in recent times and he is also the world’s second-fastest man this year.
The 17 year-old last night beat the 2012 Olympic silver medallist Nijel Amos at the Ostrava Golden Spike Meeting with a time of 1:44.15. Amos, who finished a disappointing fifth place in 1:44.92, will also be on start line to battle for honors after his dismal performance in Ostrava.
Wanyonyi has continued with his superb performance after beating Rotich in Nairobi at the Kip Keino Classic and Amos in Vitovice Stadium.
The AIC Kosirai high school student who is coached by former World 800m Champion Janeth Jepkosgei, will be the star to watch as he will battle three high profiled and experienced athletes.
