Commonwealth Games 10,000m champion Eilish McColgan will be the star to watch at the 38th edition of the Berlin Half Marathon that will be held on Sunday (02) in Berlin, Germany.
The 32 year-old who broke Paula Radcliff’s record early this month of 30:01.09 that she had set in Munich 21 years ago with a new British record time of 30:00.86, will have to get past the 2018 World U20 3000m bronze medallist, Tsigie Gebreselama from Ethiopia and Kenya’s Ludwina Chepngetich.
Gebreselama who is also the 2019 World Cross Country junior women’s bronze medal medallist, comes to this race with the fastest time on paper of 1:05.46 that she last year at the Valencia Half Marathon where she finished in second place while Chepngetich on the hand comes to this race with a life time best of 1:07.30 that she got last at Den Haag Half Marathon, where she took the honors.
Two more Brits Samantha Harrison and Calli Thackery have also been included in the fast line up as they also seek to dethrone the three.
The race organizer have assembled this deep elite field to try and chase the race course record of 1:05.02 that was set last year by Kenya’s Sheila Chepkirui.
