Scotland’s Eilish McColgan produced a stunning performance as she smashed Paula Radcliffe’s 21-year-old record at the 15th edition of the Ras Al Khaimah Half Marathon that was held on Saturday (19) in Ras Al Khaimah, United Arab Emirates.
The 31 year-old clocked a time of 1:06.26 crossing the finish line in sixth place but breaking Radcliffe’s half marathon mark that was set in 2001 as well as the best time of her mother, Liz McColgan, who set a personal best of 1:07.11 during her running career.
This was her second-ever half marathon, but it hasn’t taken long to get accustomed to its demands, shaving 21 seconds off Radcliffe’s record of 1:06.47.
The race was won by Ethiopia’s Girmawit Gebrzihair Gebru in a course-record time of 1:04:14.
