The newly crowned Commonwealth Games 10,000m champion, Eilish McColgan from Scotland was on cloud nine after smashing Kenya’s Salina Kosgei two decades records at the 2022 Birmingham Games.
McColgan who emulated her mother Liz McColgan by winning the incredible 10,000m gold for Scotland with a New Commonwealth Games Record of 30:48.60 erasing the old record of 31:27.83 that had been set by Kosgei in 2002 in Manchester, England.

The 31 year-old who emulated her mum Liz McColgan triumphed after a thrilling sprint to the line against the 2013 World Cross Country Champion Irine Cheptai from Kenya who took silver in 30:49.52 with her compatriot Sheila Chepkirui Kiprotich banging bronze in 31:09.46.
In what was her fourth Commonwealth Games and fourth different event in as many Games, it proved a first global title of any kind as she hugged her mother in emotional scenes with a Saltire flag draped over her shoulders.
