Kenya’s Edwin Kiprop Kiptoo took the top honors at the 37th edition of the Mexico City Marathon that was held on Sunday (28) in Mexico.
The 29 year-old who came to this race with a personal best of 2:06.52 that he got in April this year at the Haspa Marathon where he finished in position seven, battled for honors with his fellow compatriots, Kenneth Kiplagat Limo and Rhonzas Lokitam Kilimo.
Kiptoo who led 1 -2 -3 Kenyan podium finish, was two good to handle as Limo could not match his quick pace dropping him with 600m to go as he surged to the finish and crossing the line in a time of 2:10.48, missing the course record with 10 seconds. The race course record of 2:10.38 was set by Titus Ekiru from Kenya in 2018.
