The 2019 African U20 silver medallist, Edinah Jebitok ran a world leading time in the Women’s Mile race at the Memorial Irena Szewinska held on Wednesday at Zdzislaw Kryszkowiak Stadium in Bydgoszcz, Poland.
The 21 year-old who is also the former world Under-18 bronze medallist, beat a strong field that included Ethiopia’s Ksanet Alam and Marta Perez from Spain.
Jebitok, the reigning World Cross Country Championships senior team gold medalist, crossed the finish line first in a world leading time of 4:22.85 with Alam coming home in second place a distant later in 4:24.29. Perez wrappe up the three podium finishes in 4:25.78.
