Kenya’s Dickson Chumba will headline the 4th edition of the Abu Dhabi Marathon that will be held on Saturday (17) in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The 36 year-old comes to this race with a life time best of 2:04.32 that he got in 2014 at the Chicago Marathon where he finished in third place.
Chumba will battle for honors with Ethiopia’s Adeladlew Mamo, who ran a personal best of 2:05.12 on his marathon debut at this year’s Zurich Maraton de Sevilla where he took the silver medal. The 23 year-old young star will be making his third appearance over the distance tomorrow.
Chumba who is the most experienced athlete on the startlist has won the Rome, Eindhoven, Tokyo, and Chicago marathons and would be targeting to run away with $50,000 prize money when he clocks his fifth marathon win.
Another title contender is Daniel Kibet from Kenya who also comes to this race with the third fastest time of 2:05.20 that he got in April this year at the Telepass Milano Marathon where he took the second position.
The race organisers have assembled a strong deep elite field that will try and chase the race course record of 2:04.40 that was set in 2020 by Reuben Kipyego from Kenya.
A bonus cash of $30,000 is will also be awarded, should they break the current course record.
