Ethiopia’s Derara Hurisa proved to the world that he that he is a man to watch after he destroyed the race course record of the Guadalajara Marathon that was held on Sunday (12) in Jalisco, Guadalajara.
Hurisa who was disqualified at the Vienna City Marathon for wearing shoes which were not compliant with the rules.
The Ethiopian who has participated in three marathons and taken pole positions in all of them was on another level as he trounced Rhonzas Lokitam from Kenya at the final two kilometres.
Hurisa pulled further away from Lokitam when he cut the tape in a new course record of 2:12.26 destroying the mark of 2:14.08 that had been set in 2019 by Kiprotich Kiuri from Kenya.
Lokitam who also ran under the old course record came home in second in 2:13.34.
Amos Kiplimo also from Kenya closed the first three podium finishes in 2:14.55.
