Kenya’s Daniel Yator took the top honors at the 8th edition of the Gabon Marathon held on Sunday (20) in Libreville, Gabon.
The 34 year-old who came to this race with the third fastest time on paper of 2:13.13 that he got at the 2017 Stockholm Marathon where he finished in fourth place, led 1-2 Kenyan podium finish as he cut the tape in a time of 2:18.37 with his compatriot Edwin Kipleting coming a distant second in 2:20.03.
Ethiopia’s Daniel Aschenik closed the first three podium finisher in a time of 2:22.27.
Kenyans Felix Kirui and Julius Tarus who was the race favorite and fastest athlete on paper with a time of 2:07.35 that he got at the 2019 Eindhoven Marathon where he finished in fourth, came home in fourth and fifth place in a time of 2:23.26 and 2:23.37 respectively.
