Kenya’s Cyprian Kotut came back to road with a bang as he won the 37th edition of the Firenze Marathon that was held on Sunday (28) in Firenze, Italy.
The 29 year-old led a Kenyan 1-2 podium finish as he fought for the honors with his fellow Kenyan, Samuel Lomoi cutting the tape in 2:08.59 as he missed the race course record with 19 seconds. The race course record of sixteen years set by James Kutto still stands.
Kotut was followed a minute later Lomoi who crossed the line in 2:09.54 with Olivier Irabaruta from Burundi closing the first three podium finishes in 2:10.13.
Olympian Oqbe Kibrom Ruesom from Eritrea and Solomon Soy from Kenya came home in fourth and fifth in 2:11.49 and 2:15.42 respectively.
