Kenya’s Cynthia Kosgei ran away with the women title at the 8th edition of the Gabon Women Marathon held on Sunday (20) in Libreville, Gabon.
The 28 year-old who is the reigning Marathon du Lac d’Annecy champion, where she set her life time best of 2:28.08 which was also the fastest time on paper, took the top honors in a time of 2:28.49 and was followed Ethiopia’s Almenesh Herpa who crossed the line in second with over twenty minutes later.
The 2011 World bronze medallist, Sharon Cherop closed the first three podium finishes in 2:49.06.
Another Kenyan Ednah Mukhwana came home in fourth in 2:49.06 with Ethiopia’s Bashanke Bilo finishing in fifth in 2:49.10.
