Kenya’s Conseslus Kipruto was once again on another rampage as he gave Africa her third gold medal in 3000m steeplechase race on the first day of the Continental Cup Ostrava 2018.
Kipruto who partnered with his fierce rival Morroco’s Soufiane El Bakkali who later dropped out of race after being stumbled by John Koech took control of the race held on to held on to cross the line in 8:22.55.
Kipruto took a lap of honor when he reached the 400m mark, exhorting the crowd to up the noise with upward motions of his arms before crossing the line to collect the eight points for the African continent.
Canada’s Matthew Hughes was second in 8:29.70 with Yohanes Chiappinelli of Italy crossed the line in third in 8:32.89.
