Kenya’s Collins Kipruto will be the star to watch in the men’s 800m race at the Paavo Nurmi Games which is a World Athletics continental tour gold level series that will be held on Tuesday (14) in Turku, Finland.
The 27 year-old who broke the meeting record at Eure Athletics Meeting in February will battle his compatriot Cornelius Tuwei who comes to this race with the fastest time on paper of 1:43.76 that at the KBC Nacht van de Atletiek, where he took the honor.
Olympic 4×400 silver medallist Tony Van Diepen has also been lined up to fight for the title as he also holds a life time best of 1:44.31 that he got at the Continental Tour Gold meeting in Bydgoszcz.
Kipruto who holds the second fastest time here of 1:43.95, will also battle with the European silver medallist, Andreas Kramer from Sweden who comes with a personal best of 1:44.58 and the 20-year-old Max Burgin from Great Britain, who finished third in his seasonal best of 1:44.54 in Ostrava.
Other title contender includes Gabriel Tual from France, who finished seventh in the Olympic final in Tokyo.
