Kenya’s Collins Kipruto set a New Meeting Record in 800m race at the 6th edition of the Eure Athletics Meeting which is a World Athletics Indoor tour silver level that was held at the Jesse Owens Stadium in Val-de-Reuil (Eure).
The 27 year-old led a Kenyan 1-2 podium finish as he battled his fellow country-mate Noah Kibet who is World U20 bronze medallist but Kipruto was too good with his kick as he left him gasping for breath crossing the line with a new Meet record of 1:47.05. Kibet came home in second twenty five seconds later.
Mostafa Smaili from Morocco closed the podium finishes with the same time as Kibet of 1:47.27.
Spain’s Alvaro De Arriba and Cornelius Tuwei from Kenya finished in fourth and fifth place in 1:47.97 and 1:48.38 respectively.
