Kenya’s Collins Kipruto held off British Indoor record holder Elliot Giles in 800m race at the Müller Indoor Grand Prix, which is a World Athletics Indoor Tour gold level series that was held on Friday (19) at the Utilita Arena – Birmingham.
Kipruto is fresh from setting a New Meeting Record in 800m race in Eure Athletics Meeting last week and he looked more focus as he thrashed Giles by 0.03 to win the race with a season best of 1:45.39 which is also the second fastest time this season after Mariano Garcia’s time in Staten Island where he clocked 1:45.12.
Giles was forced to settle in second place with the second fastest time in history of 1:45.42.
Former European Indoor champion Alvaro De Arriba from Spain took third place in a seasonal best of 1:45.82.
Great Britain’s Guy Learmonth and the world bronze medallist in the 1500m,Marcin Lewandowski came home in fourth and fifth place in a time of 1:46.46 and 1:46.62 respectively.
