Kenya’s Daisy Cherotich won her first debut race at the 11th edition of the Lake Maggiore Half Marathon that was held on Sunday (15) along Lake Maggiore in Italy.
The race was held on a spectacular course from Verbania to stresa in perfect weather conditions and with no wind making it much perfect for Cherotich to take on Leonidah Jemwetich Mosop also from Kenya.
Cherotich pushed the more experienced Mosop to the wire as she pulled away from her at the last one kilometre to cut the tape in a personal best of 1:09.44 and was closely followed by Mosop in 1:10.26 with third place going to Swedish 2015 European steeplechase silver medallist Charlotta Fougber in 1:11.58.
