Former Africa cross country bronze medalist Charles Yosei Mneria took the top honors in 10,000m race at Athletics Kenya Prisons Track and Field Championships that were held on Friday (08) at the Moi International Sports Centre Kasarani.
The 2019 African Beach Games champion took on strong field that included the 2017 World Cross Country silver medallist, Geoffrey Korir, 2016 African silver medallist champion, Wilfred Kimitei and Cornelius Kangongo.
Korir tried to pulled away from the Mneria but he closed the gap and with two laps remaining but the later stuck with him until the 100m mark when he kicked to take the pole position in a time of 28:56.4 with Korir crossing the line in second four seconds later.
Kimitei was forced to settle in third place in 29:08.6.
Two times Rochelle Marathon winner, Emmanuel Oliaulo Ngatuny and Peter Emase finished in fourth and fifth pace in a time of 30:08.0 and 30:09.8 respectively.
