Two times Standard Chartered marathon winner Brimin Kipkori Misoi took the top honors at the inaugural Nairobi City Marathon dubbed “Uhuru Classic that was held on Sunday (8) at the Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.
Misoi, who is the he 2017 and 2019 Standard Chartered marathon in Nairobi won his third race in the Kenyan capital by breasting the tape in a time of 2:08.30 to run away with Ksh6 million (US dollars 6000) winner’s prize money.
Misoi who put behind his disappointment by recently limping off the course in the Eldoret City marathon after 40kms marked his victory in style by being congratulated in jubilation by Kenya’s president Uhuru Kenyatta at the finish line.
The Kapsabet based Richard Rop managed his first ever podium finish in his road running journey by coming home in second place in 2:09.17 with Daniel Yator closing the first three podium finishes in 2:10.15.
“The course was good and the weather fantastic. I really enjoyed the race,” said Misoi in a post-race interview.
Misoi said his next stop is the Chicago Marathon in the United States of America (USA) on October 9th, 2022.

The race was used to launch the newly built Nairobi Express Highway and celebrate the project as a legacy of Kenya’s president Uhuru Kenyatta.
The Misoi took home a cool Ksh Ksh6 million (US Dollars 6000), with Rop taking home Ksh 3.5 million (US dollars 35,000) while Yator pocketed a cool Ksh2.5 million (US dollars 25,000) which made the event the highest paying marathon in Africa.
