The 2014 Commonwealth Games 5000m bronze medallist, Zane Robertson was arrested yesterday in Iten, Elgeyo Marakwet for possessing an illegal gun.
Robertson was arrested after a tip off by the locals who alerted the police and upon searching his house they found an unlicensed AK 47 and 23 live ammunition.
The 33 year-old was in March of this year slapped with eight years for doping for the Presence of prohibited substances Erythropoietin (EPO), a banned substance, and tampering with the doping control process by the Drug Free Sport New Zealand (DFSNZ).
According to Keiyo North sub-county police commander Tom Makori, said the athlete had been reported for sexual assaulting in a house party the previous day and upon arriving at the house, they found the illegal firearm.
